HOW TO: make an I Spy bottle

First, get a bottle. I used a 12oz Dr Pepper bottle, washed and dried of course. Peel off the label.

Second, rummage around the house for "little treasures" so put in your bottle.

I collected rings, shells, beads, marbles, cars, pins, locks, keys amongst other things.

Third, put about 10 treasures in your bottle. I wrote down what I put in the bottle and taped the paper to the outside.

Fourth, fill the bottle halfway with salt/rice/birdseed/whatever. I used salt. And a funnel.

Fifth, glue the lid on. Trust me on this one.
Sixth, ENJOY!

PLEASE NOTE: If your bottle isnt COMPLETELY DRY, it'll look like this big clumpy mess!

RAVE! This is a great Children's Book!

highly reccomend getting your hands on a copy for the 2 and under crowd! (ok I enjoy it too!)

to my dear, sweet, youngest son...

look here pal,
I dont know what your problem is lately but you're really getting on my nerves.
STOP SCREAMING ALL THE TIME.

If I tell you no, dont hit me. Pinching mommy isnt funny. Headbutting isnt funny either. It. Hurts. Knock it off!

Maybe you have teeth coming in. Maybe its just being a toddler. Maybe its because you dont talk super well yet. I have no idea.
Please honey, for my sanity, STOP SCREAMING.

Its a good thing the Lord made you cute...
you're just not very cute when you are bright red and screaming!

Love always and forever,
your very worn out and bruised mommy

Scooty's First Real Sentance!

Scooty's a big talker, he can say lots of things:

Mama
Dada
ball
baba (cup or bottle)
shoe
shirt
sit
sissy
buba (brother...he's got 2!)
(I'm sure there are more, I just cant think of any at the moment)

silly questions like:
"Whazdat?!"
"Who dat?"

and then there's all his "sound effects"...
Woof
MeowMeow
vroom
beep

but early this morning he uttered his first very clear complete sentance. He climbed up in our bed, poked Daddy in the side and said "Dat's MY Dada!"

Happy Birthday Mom and Grandpa!

Mommy turned 29 for the first (and only) time sunday. Grandpa turned 29 (AGAIN) today.
Since Mommy and Grandpa are finally the same age, Mommy decided to make cupcakes to celebrate the occasion.

Happy Birthday Grandpa! (and Grandpa, if you're going to lie about your age, how about you try a more realistic number...like 59? lol Considering you have a 34yo son!)

the stinkbug

Yesterday Scooty, Clowny and I were at the park having a playdate. Clowny was thirsty so we went over to the water fountain for a drink. On the fence next to the water fountain was a STINK BUG. Clowny had never seen one before so we got close enough to look at it, but as he was about to poke it I said "dont EVER touch those! If you make him mad he'll STINK ya!"
So insted of POKING at it, guess what he did? HE BLEW ON IT! And the darn thing stunk him in the eye!

There's a whole new meaning to STINKEYE! rofl!!

RAVE: Fablehaven book series!

Have you gotten your hands on a copy of these books yet?!

http://www.fablehaven.com/

FANTASTIC books! Extreemly creative! Easy and fun to read too!
I know, I know...they're children's books but yes, I've read all 3 AND The Candy Shop Wars, which isnt part of the series, but is also written by Brandon Mull...
(come on, I read the entire Series of Unfortunate Events and loved them too!)

Ok to be perfectly honest I checked the first book, Fablehaven, at the library because I *know* the author. Kinda. He went to high school with my older brother- they were in choir and sunday school together. I was friends with his younger brother and sister in high school. His brother Bryson was a terrible driver and guess who was always driving me to school or home from choir rehersals and performances...yikes THAT was scary! Sometimes I felt like it was amazing that I was alive! lol

Seriously though- get your hands on a copy of all 3 of the Fablehaven books and Candy Shop Wars....before they're all turned into movies!

According to our local paper
There will be five books in the Fablehaven series. The first book iscalled "Fablehaven". Second is called "Fablehaven: Rise of the EveningStar", and the newest one which went on sale this week is "Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague". Hollywood wants to turn the Fablehavenseries into a film franchise, with the first book in the process of being turned into a screenplay. Another production company has bought the rights to another of Brandon's books, "The Candy Shop War."
"It's not trying to be Harry Potter, but it is trying to be a book that a Harry Potter reader might like. I try to write books I think are cool and are acceptable for kids so a parent and a child can read it together and have a good time. It's hard to prove to kids that reading is fun, and fantasy can be a great gateway into teaching kids that reading is fun." He spoke at 3 local elementary schools to 3rd, 4th, and 5thgraders about how reading could help them improve their imaginations.

So what are you waiting for?! Get your hands on these books and devour them like I did!

yummie soft cookies! kid tested, mom approved!

we made the most delicious cookies tonight...

I found this recepie online and tweaked it...mine turned out very spongey/cake-y but YUMMY!!3/4 c. applesauce
2 tbsp. organic canola oil
3/4 c. grade B maple syrup (or 1/2 c. sugar and 1/2 c. brown sugar)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
1/2 tsp. salt 2 c. spelt flour or whole wheat flour
1/4 c. instant oats (or 1 individual serving size package instant oatmeal, uncooked)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips (choose vegan chocolate chips if you want your cookies to be vegan)
1/2 c. raisins (optional)
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Begin mixing oil, applesauce, and maple syrup or sugars together. Add salt, cinnamon, vanilla, flour, oats, baking soda, and baking powder. Mix together until "just mixed."Add chocolate chips and raisins and mix them in. Scoop 2 tbsp. sized globs of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges of the cookies are golden.
Makes 24 cookies.
I changed the flour and oatmeal...I used 1.5 cups of white flour and used 3/4cup baby oatmeal
I also threw in 2 ripe chopped bananas
substituted chunks of bakers chocolate for chocolate chips
